Appreciate the Ride / by Brett Holman

Today's tour took us up Highway 70 to the local Pacific Crest Trail access point. Belden Town was, "once a very successful gold mining town that shared the spotlight with the railroad while building the most rugged Trans-Sierra railroad line in California." I always loved this drive that follows the North Fork of the Feather River. Liz was impressed with the scenery and her exact words were, " I can't believe that this is where you came from and you actually had the patience to live in Detroit for as long as you did." Detroit gave me the ultimate contrast to what I'm used to. I appreciate everything around me so much more after living there.
